Sick house

Right now, it's 10:51 am on Tuesday and Charlie is laying on the floor in the hall outside the bathroom door, sleeping. He's been there since about 8:30 this morning. I just took his temp and it's 103.7. Anyone know how high is "too high"??? The poor kid is just plain sick. He hasn't eaten anything since having a couple saltine crackers yesterday morning. I feel so bad for him.

I have had the flu twice in the past week, and about 3 or 4 different colds - bad ones - this month. Enough already!!! I just want us to be healthy again.

Is his fever that high with motrin in his body? I always use a cool damp washcloth on their heads when my kids get fevers too close to 104 because you do need to get the temp down. Docs always worry about the duration of a high fever, but whenever my kids got to 104 and I could not keep it down with medicine then I took them in. Praying for you guys. Mommies need enery for sick kiddos! Plus the rule often times is clear fluids so something that works for us is lukewarm sleepytime tea or chammomile with a bit of sugar (or honey if he is old enough)the herbs in it settle the stomach. It is always so hard to see them sick :(

Thanks, Elisha. He hasn't had any motrin today - can't get him to take it. :( So, it's without any medicine. But he is drinking water, so that's a good thing. When he wakes up, I'm going to try to get him to take some motrin or tylenol. I will try the cool washcloth, too, I forget these things because he really doesn't get sick very often. I may take him in later today either way!

oh poor guy! We had a horrible bought with the flu last year, and I don't think I'll ever forget that week! Popcycles always worked for us to help them stay hydrated and cool them off a bit. What flavor of Motrin do you have? My kids like grape, but have a hard time with the other flavors. Fresh cool air is always good, so cracking open a window might bring a little relief. Good luck, I'll be praying for you guys!

ugh, it is no fun to have a sick little one. I always feel so worrysome and helpless. I will be praying you can get some meds in him and that he's feeling better soon. Take care!

A bath helps bring down the temp, but the fever itself is doing a job in his body so it is really not all bad. Most of the time if you give them a fever reducer, it prolongs the fever. Often going down and returning the next evening.
The fever and colds are going around, we and all our neighbors have had round of them too. Iylan just had a fever for two days and is fine today. :)

So sorry, Mars! He looks just pitiful. You know they're sick when they'll sleep on the floor. I will continue to pray that all those little bugs leave your bodies. I agree... enough already!
